Description

A beautiful and one-of-a-kind Victorian walnut chiffonier sideboard dating to c1870. It has a two door cupboard, with inner shelf, and key, below two drawers. The drawers have original Aesthetic design brass handles. It has a bevelled mirrored back with two long shelves with turned supports and topped by a gallery also with narrow turned supports and urn finials. A band of egg and dart type beading encircles the sideboard between the drawers and cupboard. The drawers, cupboards and side pilasters are richly embellished with ornate boxwood inlaid classical designs. The central inlaid panels on the cupboard doors are particularly fine. The rich warm colour of the walnut and the multiple design elements make this a bold and striking piece of furniture. It has been repolished and is in excellent condition. The key sits at a slight angle but it does work the lock.

The height from base to tabletop is 84cm. The height from base to top of shelving finial is 136cm
