A lovely piece of sailors work is this nicely carved fid, which is used to hold open knots and holes in canvas, and to separate the ''lays'' of natural rope for splicing.....it is made of ''marine ivory'' and is pointed at one end and shaped as a sleeve and hand at the other....excellent condition.
