Size: 5ft 7in x 3ft 5in (170 x 104cm).
Antique Caucasian Derbent rug with traditional Chi Chi design.
Circa 1900.
The town of Derbent is located on the coast of the Caspian sea in the North East Caucasus and has a long weaving tradition. This rug is a good example with a traditional design usually associated with Chi Chi rugs. The traditional Caucasian border with an ivory ground frames the rug well.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and good pile.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
