A pair of Victorian Aesthetic Movement oak library chairs, having oxblood leather upholstered seats and backs, turned gallery arms and tapering front legs with ‘Sphere Patent’ brass castors, c.1880.
These are similar to examples designed by the architect Alfred Waterhouse in 1874 for Reading Town Hall.
Condition:
In good condition with nice and tight joints and no damage to the leather. General wear, marks, chips and scratches to wood commensurate with age and use. Castors freshly oiled and working well.
Dimensions:
107 cm high x 64 cm wide x 68 cm deep (seat heights 51 cm).
