Japanese Silver & Shibuichi Vase - Hassegawa Issei

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this charming Meiji period 1868-1912 vase by the highly regarded artist Hassegawa Issei, his art name Gyokutosai, the main body of the vase formed from shibuichi contrasted with silver neck and base seamlessly joined with the use of a lappet design, the artist has captured a pair of birds at rest in the branches of a blossom tree, the tree itself carved from the shibuichi body of the vase, the birds formed from silver and shakudo with gilt highlights, the trailing flora finely decorated in silver, gold and mixed metals, the artist has signed the vase to the underside, an increasingly rare mixed metal vase by a well recorded artist, and a perfect addition to your Japanese metalwork collection .
