Description

This is a rare item as they have used the full cowrie shell.

The mounts are silver gilt and carry French hallmarks to the inside edges.

The outside of the shell shows minor wear which is commensurate with age and the natural scaling to the shell.

There is a crack which is stable as the back is covered in the silver mount.

The hinge is in good order, it opens and shuts well and the inside indicates that it has had little or no use.

It would make a very unusual addition to a collection of snuff boxes.
