George V Engraved and Cut Lead Crystal Bowl C1910

1900 - 1920
Description

A stunning engraved and cut lead crystal bowl on a pedestal base dating to the elegant Geo V era c1910-20. The lower main body of the bowl is cut with a fine hobnail and deep cut diamond pattern. The rim is embellished with an downward thumbnail cut. The intervening band, measuring 4cm height, is engraved with a flowing vine leaf and grape bunch pattern, between deep inset cuts round the circumference of the bowl. The bowl is set on a strong bulbous pedestal above a strong star cut base. Probably intended as a punch bowl. The lead crystal has a lovely deep ring when tapped with your fingernail, a sign of quality. Perfect condition. Would look wonderful filled with strawberries!
