Description

A lovely and charming Victorian creamware jelly mould, c1880. It has an octagonal, 8 sided shape, with a very well defined top of four crouching rabbits, heads facing the centre, interspersed with mounds of hay or grass. The measurement of 1 pt is incised into the back of one rabbit. The rabbits eyes, ears and fur are well defined, as are their little tails! Curiously, there is a little swirl to the left side of each hay bundle - part of the design. The interior definition is even more clear, making for a very elegant rabbit or game terrine or jelly. The condition is very good apart from a tiny hairline in the inside centre, not visible on the outside. All in all, a really heart warming, collectible and usuable piece.
