In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It has a drawer at the bottom, secured in place by a small brass rod, with recessed brass handle on the front. It also comes with various old paint tubes and old brushes.
The box itself is good quality mahogany with ebonised stringing and a brass escutcheon. It does not come with a key.
The whole set is in good condition for its age and has the look of a genuine well used Artist's box, as original now as the day it was last used. The box is in good condition with a lovely aged patina and no major damages. The interior has some general marks and old paint marks here and there but nothing detrimental.
