Antique Regency Mahogany Astragal Glazed Bureau Bookcase C1820

Antique Regency Mahogany Astragal Glazed Bureau Bookcase and dating from around 1820. Constructed from quality mahogany it has a cornice top with deep crossbanded frieze above two astragal glazed doors with brass escutcheon and with four original internal shelves. The bureau base has a fall front with brass escutcheon and working key and opens to reveal a very nice mahogany interior with a central flamed mahogany door flanked on either side by gilt mounted bookend secret compartments. To either side there are two small drawers over one long drawer and with open letter compartments. It has a green baize writing surface. The bureau sits above three short drawers over three long graduating drawers all of which are pine lined with original brass handles . It is raised on ogre bracket feet and separates for ease of transporting.
