A Fine George III Mahogany Fall-front Bureau

A fine George III mahogany bureau, the rectangular fall-front with crossbanding and brass covered lock escutcheon opening to reveal a fitted interior with a central cupboard with inside two drawers, flanked by half-columns and with further drawers and pigeonholes and green baize insert, supported by sliding lopers with Dutch handles and over two short and three long graduated drawers with brass swan-neck handles and on bracket feet. English circa 1780. A period key is supplied.
 
Condition: Excellent, the desk is in great condition, the structure is solid and the drawers slide well. The interior is also in excellent condition, with a new baize, and overall the colour and patination of the wood is a delight, with wonderful grain and depth. The handles on all the drawers, including those inside, are original, as are the brackets
