This is a fine pair of Georgian sterling silver table salts with blue glass liners made by Hester Bateman and hallmarked in London 1785.
Overall they are in very good condition, just a couple of imperfections. There has been an old repair to the original join on one salt, not very obvious, and whilst the hallmarks to one salt are perfectly readable those to the second are rubbed.
Vacant cartouches to both and very attractive pierced decoration. Both salts stand firmly on 4 claw feet and the blue glass liners are in very good condition and appear to be original.
Hester Bateman was the matriarch of the famous Bateman family of silversmiths and her pieces are widely collected. To reflect the imperfections mentioned they are offered at a discounted price.
(NB any shadows shown in the photographs are merely reflections)
