18th Century Oak Coffer with Inlay

A well-proportioned 18th century antique oak coffer with decorative carved detail and unusual inlay. The three panel hinged lid opens to reveal a generous storage space. The coffer has a three panel front with decorative diamond shaped carvings to each panel and decorative inlaid detail between the panels. Raised on simple stile feet.

Height – 53.5cm / Width – 116cm / Depth – 53cm

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age and wear. There is surface wear in places including some age-related marks to the top surface and to the front (pictured). Some shrinkage to the panels. Hinges appear original. Honest metal brace repair to the bottom/base. It appears there would have been a candle box to the interior – this has been removed at some point in time. Structurally solid and sound. Of neat proportions. Overall, a particularly charming coffer.
