C19th Carved Giltwood Louis Xvi Style Settee

19th century
Description

C19th carved giltwood Louis XVI style settee; of an elegant shapely form; the oval upholstered padded back in a foliate and rope twist carved frame with exaggerated outswept arms on shapely scrolled supports having acanthus leaf carving. The padded upholstered seat with unusual rounded ends on a shallow frame with carved husks and scrolls. Raised on turned tapering legs with stop fluted detail headed with carved flower head paterae.

French circa 1880

Good original condition, the frame being strong and sturdy and the gilding with appropriate signs of wear. Upholstered in old pale velvet.
