Fine Pair of Old Sheffield Plated Wine Bottle Coasters C1840

Description

A fabulous pair of 19th Century wine bottle coasters made of Old Sheffield Plate. With hallmarked internal silver buttons for maker Dixon and Sons, these coasters date between c1830-1840. One button is monogramed with an 'S'. Beautiful vine leaf decoration and turned fruitwood bases and visible seams. Felted to the underside of the bases.

The condition is very good, with virtually no plate wear and no dents. Slight variation in the colour of the bases, but this is because they are hand made.

Total weight approx 586g.

Diameter approx 19cm.

Internal diameter approx 12.5cm.
