Antique Folding Cane Canoe Chair

1900 - 1920
Description

A superb folding cane chair dating from the early 20th century, designed for use on board canoes but it also doubles as a fantastic picnic or fishing chair. It is portable with a carrying handle at the top and small round legs bound in protective leather. There are two leather straps that keep the back upright when it is opened out and there is a storage compartment below the seat.

The whole chair is in good original condition. There are minor signs of wear and use and some small losses here and there but nothing detrimental. There is some wear on the leather straps and areas which have cracked and are a little weak but not untoward given it's age and they could easily be replaced if it were to be heavily used.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
