Description

A quality and petite late 19th.c walnut & parquetry bureau c.1880. Typical of the bombe style, with pierced ormolu gallery to the top with a fielded and heavily ormolu mounted fall below. Open to reveal an exceptional interior with baize writing surface, three drawers, an upper compartment, plus an additional compartment below accessed via sliding panel. Note the particularly fine engraved hinges and lock plate. Knee height below the writing surface is 25½". Highly figured burr walnut veneers with extensive parquetry inlays across the piece. Original gilded ormolu mounts and handles. Shaped apron to the front and sides and raised on slim curving cabriole legs with further mounts front and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
