Rare Set Six Silver Plated Plate Rests by Walker & Hall C.1890

Description

Rarely found and almost never seen in a complete box of six. The six stunning plate rests were made to clip on the side of a dinner plate (see photos) to collect small pieces of waste food, pips, stones and bones etc.

The design is very elegant, serpentine shaped created by large scrolls around the edge. Each has a very ornate initial A engraved in the centre.

Making this highly desirable set even better is the maker, the famous quality English silversmith of Walker & Hall of Sheffield, England; each marked on the back.

The set comes in their original presentation box lined in blue velvet and silk, the interior of the lid also stamped in gold " Walker & Hall".

Each dish measures 4 1/4" x 2 1/3"; the box measures 10 1/2" square. The dishes are all in excellent condition, the box with wear commensurate with age.
