Rare Antique Silver Combination Stamp & Sovereign Case/holder

An unusual and superior solid silver combination Sovereign and Stamp Case of the finest quality. The lozenge shaped case is a lovely plain polished silver with no engraving or embossing to the exterior. It has a spring loaded hinged lid, opened by a push button, and has a loop above the button for attachment. When the lid is open two compartments are visible: one is spring loaded for stamps and the other spring loaded for sovereigns. Partial hallmarks are visible on the sovereign compartment and the stamp compartment is marked: Rd 403766. Hallmarks to the underneath of the lid are also visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1911 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver along with the maker''s mark: Samuel M Levi.
