An Anglo Indian Campaign Writing Box

An Anglo Indian campaign writing box with well hidden secret drawers. Probably made in Northern India of camphor wood but using English brass hinges and lock. The lock is stamped VR and the key is fully operational. Pierced brass corner caps and brass banding. Pierced brass central and side cartouches. Un polished interior with letter rack, brass capped glass ink and lidded wax compartment. Lift up fold out writing surfaces with silver pulls and storage below. Concealed spring catch reveals secret drawer panel and 2 drawers (by pressing lower side timber at base...almost impossible to detect without prior knowledge.
 
Lovely rich colour to the exterior timber.
 
45 cm wide 27cm deep and 15.5 high closed and 49cm deep opened.
