A stylish Victorian Aesthetic cast iron garden seat or bench by the John Finch Foundry and dating to circa 1870. This Arts & Crafts period seat has pierced sides combining formal geometric Greek key decoration with the naturalistic shapes of the flowering Arrowhead plant. With wooden slats set into a cast iron seat and back frame. In good structural condition, some wear to the paintwork and slats in good condition.
The design of this seat, number 199811, was registered and patented by the John Finch Foundry of Priory Road, Dudley, Worcestershire at The Public Record Office on 10th August 1866.
