Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The lid has a highly collectible hand reverse painted scene (Eglomise) of Crystal Palace, where the Great Exhibition of 1851 was held in Hyde Park. Each corner has a piece of pewter stringing which runs from the glazed panel to the edge of the box.

The button at the front working the catch to open is in perfect working order as is the original hinge. The interior reveals the edges finished in Ivory and the blue velvet interior too is in excellent original condition.

A fine all round piece with a highly sought after Eglomise scene to the lid. Obviously Victorian in era, dating to around 1850.
Measures 2 5/8" x 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" tall.
