Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
In a well-figured mahogany which has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain and good patina, it has marquetry inlay to the tops of the legs as well as ebony and satinwood line inlay. A well-proportioned piece, it is a good size and would make a wonderful desk.

Solid and sturdy. Good colour. Wear and marks commensurate with age. There is a discoloured ring mark with wear to the top, and it also has an old (very solid) mend to one of the back legs (see photos).
