Description

A really nice example of a Victorian slipper chair from around 1840-60 but in very good condition for its age, with mahogany show-frame and button-upholstered back, all covered in a terracotta coloured fine cord fabric, with over-scrolled back, the frame terminating in an acanthus-carved scroll, scrolled & looped sides with peg-jointed repairs and a serpentine front with acanthus-carved central boss, on boldly modelled cabriole front legs and sabre rear, all on brass casters, this charming lady's chair will delight in the most elegant of period-furnished homes or its contemporary equivalent, fully-deserving of the admiring attention it will surely attract.
Max. Width at Back 56.5cm x O/All Depth 78cm (22.25" x 30.75") & Max. Width at Seat 53.5cm (21")
Seat Width 43cm x Depth 40cm (17" x 15.75")
Height at Centre of Back 92cm (36.25") & Height of Seat 39.5cm (15.5")
This is an early Victorian piece so you may expect the mature character & patina of considerable age, including some old but secure repairs and an old replacement for the lower section of one of the rear legs but, in all other respects, it's in very good, clean & sound condition, ready to be used in your home.
