The top quality construction is enhanced with inlaid military or campaign style straps and corners, a flush fitting cast brass handle and a brass escutcheon which houses a taselled key for display purposes only.
The box is lucky enough to have the manufacturers plaque inside together with the address on an additional plaque - made by the famous Bayley's of 17 Cockspur Street, London.
A superb piece dating to George III period, c.1820. Excellent condition, measuring 15 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 4" tall.
