Description

Mid 19th.c. inlaid walnut work box side table c.1870. 16½" diameter octagonal top veneered in burr walnut with fine marquetry work inlays and ogee moulded edges. Over a curved apron also veneered and inlaid to match. Opens to reveal the original fitted interior with small compartments for bobbins etc. around a central well for embroidery. With original decorative paper lining and pierced rosewood lids (one missing) with pearl buttons. Tapering body with pierced sides, raised on a short turned column and tripod base with shaped legs and particularly attractive carved dolphin feet, all in solid walnut. Some wear to the top, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Key supplied.
