Aaron Nejad Carpets and Rugs has dated this Antique Caucasian Talish Rug to the 1880s.
This piece however, has a charming aquamarine central field filled with a pretty repeating floral design. The borders are the typical borders one associates with Talish rugs. The main ivory border filed with repeating roundels is ubiquitous, as well as the minor guard stripes. Dating this rug has been helped by the use of both a lovely organic purple and fuchsine, which one can comfortably date in the last quarter of the 19th century. The texture is thin and fine. One can say this piece has great presence. In generally good condition, retaining its original ends and selvages. Professionally cleaned and ready for immediate use.
