Description

Large mid 18th.c. oak coffer c.1750. Four panel lid with moulded rails and mullions opening on iron hinges to reveal a good sized chest for storage. Decorative carving to the front and sides with a repeated arch and flower detail along the top rail and an unusual interlocking S shape to the bottom rail, mullions and front stiles. The decoration is continued on the sides. Large carved flower and leaf motif to the three front panels and a smaller flower head with geometric scratch carved surround on the side panels. Oak panelled back and oak floor boards. Very good condition, retaining the full length stiles front and rear. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
