Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The top half has the most amazing cast silver casing with intricate floral and foliate garlands with pretty tied bows around the top. The hinged lid is also highly decorative with a central vacant cartouche to the very top, which could be engraved with initials my your silversmith if desired. The bottle is hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, making this a true Victorian example. The makers mark ( M J J ) for Matthew John Jessop.

The bottle retains it's cut glass stopper fitting perfectly to protect the precious contents from evaporating and the interior of the domed top, beautifully gilded.
