Description

A beautiful Georgian Regency mahogany pedestal card table c1820. This table serves as a stylish side table and, when the folding top is open, a spacious card table. The beautiful figured mahogany folded top stands on a framed carcass with panelled frieze, supported by a solid mahogany elliptical turned pedestal which in turns stands on a platform and outswept reeded legs ending in the original good quality lions paw castors. To convert to a card table, the folded top swivels to reveal the carcass storage area, and opens to a baize lined surface. The colour and condition is superb, with just an old surface ring mark in one corner. The elliptical shape of the pedestal is unusual but very stylish in design, I haven’t seen one like it.
