A British Chess Company Travelling Chess Set, circa 1895

Width: 14.2cm (when closed).
The British Chess Company was founded by William Moffatt and William Hughes in 1891, and for a relatively short period, became the main rival to Jaques. The British Chess Company stopped trading around 1908. Consequently, BCC sets and boards are genuinely scarce, and now coveted by keen collectors.
