A Huge Solid Sterling Silver Victorian Two-handled Tray with Cast Border & Fine Engravings - Barnard 1857 - 72cm (3.8kg)

We are delighted to offer this exceptionally large and decorative solid silver Victorian tray made by a renowned maker: the Barnards in London,1857.

Upon first glance, the massive size and spectacular presence of the object most certainly leaves an impressive and majestic impression upon whoever may have the pleasure of viewing this item.

The tray spans 72cm from handle to handle with a highly decorative, ornate, yet intricate detailing on each aspect and section of this silver piece.

The pair of cast handles present the most elegant of shapes with chased embellishment of flowers and leaves with stippled sections for a contrasting sparkle.

Towards the edge and outer section of the tray, a cast border of further acanthus leaves and scrolls are present with a further inner border in 'pie-crust form.

Four cast feet support the tray steadily with a continued decorative leaf design with a very large, splayed and scrolled shape.

Towards the centre, a finely hand engraved design of scrolled leaves and flowers are embellished in Victorian fashion.

Due to the large size and thick quality gauge of the silver, this tray would make for an excellent practical piece of fine silverware in addition to a decorative interior display. Such fine craftsmanship in accordance with its lasting impression, this tray is of a superb calibre and of our highest recommendation for uncompromising collectors whether be it for silverware or interior decor.
