A large and superb clock set or 'Garniture de cheminee' in beautiful clean and bright gilded brass. It is of excellent quality; modelling of the set is superb, heavily formed with crisp, clean and well finished edges. It is in the style of Louis XVI, architectural in shape and profusely decorated with fretted foliage and floral swags, scrolls and a lions mask. Candelabra have arms boldly modelled as foliage and acanthus leaves. They are complete with original snuffers that sit in the central sconce as finials.

The dial is enamel on copper with a gilt brass centre and blued steel hands.

The French movement is of the high quality and runs for 8 days on one wind. It is in excellent condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. It strikes half hourly on a bell and is complete with a replacement pendulum. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition is excellent, the case has a clean and bright finish with some very minor wear, discolouration and some light surface scratches. The candelabra are very slightly distorted. The dial is also in excellent condition, just some slight nibbles around the winding holes. A stunning clock set ready for display, as you can see below!

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
