Charles II Oak Side Table C. 1670

17th century
Description

A good English oak side table with single original frieze drawer and lovely bobbin turned legs with original stretchers. Original twin plank top and ovolu moulded border. The drawer is solid oak lined with hand cut dovetails and nailed up base - correct for period.

Wear, dings and marks consistent with age. Handles have considerable age - not original but of appropriate design and solid brass. Drawer front has old crack - very stable and not going anywhere.

A heavy and sturdy 330 year old table with really good deep colour and smooth worn feel that only centuries of use, wax and care can bring.

The dimensions of the table are: 29 inches high, 34 inches wide and 22 inches deep. Internal height of drawer is 3.5 inches and height from floor to lowest edge of frieze is 22 inches.

Declaration

Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
