Large Painted Triple Plate Overmantle Mirror C.1880.

Description

Large late 19th.c. triple plate overmantle mirror c.1880. Three arch top bevelled mirrors (centre mirror height 59") in an overpainted frame. With elaborate jesso work decoration to the top featuring an oval cartouche flanked with foliate scrolls and scallops. Extensive moulded detail to the frame with floral swags, acanthus and guilloche detailing and fluted fronts to the uprights. Some minor tarnish to the mirror plates, a few missing bits of decoration and obvious wear to the paint with traces of gilt visable below. Original backboards.
