Description

A delightful late 18thc hand coloured stipple engraving entitled Morning dating to c1790. Housed in a good quality giltwood frame and mounted behind ebonised glass - verre eglomise - with a title label on the back - Morning. A charming pastoral scene of women engaged in the early morning task of milking, with children playing with the buckets. The image was engraved and printed by Francesco Bartolozzi after William Hamilton (image research courtesy of Christopher Cole). But it’s not been possible to check if the usual attributions appear on the edge of the engraving as the back has not been opened. In lovely condition.
