Description

A delightful late 18thc hand coloured stipple engraving entitled Evening dating to c1790. Housed in a good quality oval gilt wood frame and mounted behind ebonised glass - verre eglomise - with a label on the back with the title - Evening. A delightful pastoral scene depicting a courting couple, amid shepherds. This image was engraved and printed by Francesco Bartolozzi after Wm Hamilton (image research courtesy of Christopher Coles). The picture back has not been opened so its not possible to check if this print bears the usual printed attributions beneath the ebonised glass mount. In lovely condition.
