Description

A superb adjustable duet reading table dating from the mid 19th Century. The table stands on a large column on a quatrefoil base with bun feet with small castors below. The table has two adjustable reading stands on easel backs and removable book rests. The height of the table is adjustable and it ratchets smoothly up and down, held in place with a wooden knob. The table also adjusts side to side, allowing for it to be placed over a bed.

The quality is absolutely superb and it is in excellent condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and all the parts move well and the mahogany has a wonderful rich patina. There are some minor signs of age and use, some surface marks and small knocks around the base but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully.
