Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Rococo revival clocks from the nineteenth century are defined by curvilinear outlines, asymmetric scrolls, fine wood veneers, and elaborate gilded bronze mounts. They frequently featured white enamel dials and brass mechanical movements designed for display on chimneypieces or consoles.

These timepieces were typically constructed using a dense hardwood or carcass veneered in fine woods such as rosewood or kingwood. Decorative details included floral marquetry inlays of contrasting timber, cast ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts, glass bezels, and fired enamel dials.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut marquetry inlay, heavy cast gilt-bronze fittings secured with period thread screws, and hand-painted or fired enamel dials with dual winding arbors. The internal brass pendulum movement often features maker marks or serial numbers stamped onto the backplate.

A Rococo style clock serves as a focal accent when placed on a minimalist marble fireplace mantelpiece, a modern hallway console, or an executive desk. The warmth of the timber veneer and rich gilt accents provide texture and contrast against neutral walls.

The timber surfaces should be dusted with a clean, dry microfibre cloth and protected from direct sunlight or extreme humidity changes to prevent veneer lifted. Ormolu mounts should be gently cleaned using a soft dry brush, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that strip historical gilding.
