William Greaves 1853-1938 was born in Leeds and studied at the Sheffield College of Art.He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy,Royal Cambrian Academy,Manchester and Liverpool.He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. ‘Return from the Harvest at Dusk’ signed oil on canvas,dated indistinctly ,possibly 1917; image size 40x60 cms; framed size 60x80 cms.Housed in original gilt frame.
