A fabulous rich cognac coloured crocodile skin was used to adorn this late Victorian jewellery box, dating to c.1890.
Perfect for either a lady or gentleman, the box is mounted with a solid brass mount, perfect for engraving if desired.
The lid lifts to reveal a pair of quality hinges and a Bramah lock, always a sign of a top quality box, there is a working key.
The interior is all original, lined with a deep olive coloured velvet and silk taffeta; some slight wear commensurate with age and use under the removable tray, superb condition being totally original and 130 years old. A slight old stain to the skin can be seen above the brass mount on the lid. All mentioned and shown purely for accuracy.
The skin has a stunning bright glossy patina and in superb condition. A good size measuring 11'' x 7 1/8'' x 4 1/2''.
