Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1960s.
The watch is the rare and highly desirable Constellation 'C' Chronometer fully automatic calibre 751 24 jewel movement which has just been overhauled and serviced and is running at plus 3 seconds per day, as you can see it is in fabulous condition.
The original diamond bright cut dial is also of solid 18ct gold with the OM designation which means it will never deteriorate or tarnish and is in incredible condition and it has the day and date facility.
This is an exceptional and rare variant with the facet cut fluted bezel, whenever you see these the facets have usually been badly rubbed. They also get machined flat to look like the more normal flat bezel variant. Its almost unheard of to find this feature in perfect condition like this.
The case body graining is near perfect with super sharp edges indicating that this watch has spent most of its life tucked away in a drawer.
The day and date wheels are exactly the same colour and tone indicating that neither one has ever been replaced.
The winding crown serrations are super sharp like new with no rub through on the edges.
The back is perfect with a mega sharp observatory medallion.
It has black hands and baton markers and also the Omega symbol on the original crown and a genuine Omega buckle.
The glass is original and near mint perfect.
As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.
The heavy solid 18ct gold case is fully hallmarked.
The case measures 35mm in diameter excluding the winding crown.
Omega are one of the most exclusive watchmakers in the world and this watch certainly has that understated elegance that whispers class.
Overall this is the very best example we have seen in 25 years, the case and the fluted bezel in particular are like unworn museum pieces and highly sought after by Omega collectors indeed it looks as if it was rarely worn.
The watch has been fully serviced and is guaranteed to be a genuine Omega in all respects. It has been professionally overhauled, the process is highly detailed and meticulous.
It is stripped down to its component parts and each part is examined under a microscope for signs of wear, any worn parts are replaced with genuine manufacturers parts. Each part is then thoroughly cleaned in a three stage ultrasonic cleaning process.
The movement is then fully assembled using manufacturers approved oils and lubricants and is carried out in a clean room environment. The movement is then checked and adjusted for accurate time keeping. The cases are polished and sealed.
Obviously this is not a cheap or quick process which is why our watches are sometimes a little more expensive than others but you can be assured our watches will give you reliable and dependable service and will not require further service for many years.
