Pretty Antique English Ring Box for Eight Rings - 1900

Description

A large late Victorian ring box made from sterling silver, with an exquisitely decorated lid with top quality raised or repousse decoration incorporating various floral and foliate swags with a bird on the right hand side. There is a central oval vacant cartouche, which could be engraved by your silversmith if desired.

The interior is beautifully fitted in a deep plum coloured velvet for eight rings, so a good size for a ring box.

The silver of course bears the English silver hallmark for Birmingham 1900, the last year of Queen Victoria's reign. The makers mark D&F is also present for the silversmith, Deakin & Francis.

A wonderful and impressive box in excellent condition, measuring 6 1/2" long x 1 1/2" deep x 1 1/4".
