Description

A beautiful English sterling silver inkwell in a most unusual shape with lovely detailing including a raised acanthus leaf border around the base and around the lid.

Of course what makes this a particularly special piece is the glossy tablet of antique tortoise shell on the lid inlaid with fine and highly decorative silver pique inlay.

The hinged lid opens to reveal the little glass liner intact, making this a very usable piece to refill with ink and clean.

There is a silver hallmark for London 1909, a true Edwardian piece. Excellent condition with the base diameter measuring 4" and stand 2 1/4" tall.
