Exquisite George V Silver Jewellery Box by Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1922

1900 - 1920
Description

This superb silver circular jewellery box was made by the renowned Henry Matthews and is dated Birmingham 1922. The slightly domed hinged cover with a pretty shell border and gadroon rim. Opens to reveal the original vivid green velvet and satin interior.

Raised on four elegant cabriole legs.

Morocco leather base.

Hallmarks:

HM for Henry Matthews.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "x" for 1922.

Condition:

Very good.

Strong hinge.

Sits evenly on flat surface.

Silver sides in good condition.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 7.5cm / 3 inches.

Height: 5cm / 2 inches.
