We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A wheel barometer, often referred to as a banjo barometer due to its distinctive shape, is a wall-mounted instrument developed in the 18th and 19th centuries that records atmospheric pressure using a mercury-filled glass tube connected to a pulley system and circular dial.

These instruments were typically crafted with polished hardwood cases such as mahogany or walnut, featuring silvered brass dials, glass covers, brass bezels, and mercury-filled glass tubing.

Authentic pieces feature engraved silvered brass dials with historical weather terminology, hand-carved pediments or detailing, original glass elements, and occasionally maker signatures engraved on the main dial or spirit level.

Display the item vertically on a narrow accent wall, within a gallery display of framed art, or above a hallway console table to add historic architectural character to a contemporary space.

Keep the timber case dusted using a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners on silvered dials. Keep the instrument upright during transport and position it away from direct heat sources and severe humidity fluctuations.
