Description

A delightful BURMESE KALAGA ..textile hanging/picture originally done for the palaces in Mandalay and later becoming increasingly popular. Fabulous intricate work using sequins, glass beads gold and silver threads all done by hand and taking up to weeks and sometimes months to complete.

This Kalaga depicts two warrior figures astride sequinned elephants and has exotic birds top and bottom with a parrot in each corner. A highly decorative piece showing the artistry of the wonderful country of Myanmar (Burma) framed.
