A late Victorian English silver pocket watch by the Errington Watch Company.

The watch has a ¾ plate pin set stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is signed by the retailer Jr Ingram, St Ives. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 51.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and the inner case back is hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, with the maker’s mark for the Errington Watch Company (Charles Errington). The outer case back is hallmarked for London 1901 with the makers mark R.G.M. The case back is 2 years later and an honest repair. The case has light surface marking from use but overall it is in nice condition for a 1900s piece.

Charles Errington was listed as an engraver in 1875 and he subsequently had a small factory finishing movements from Berry of Prescot. The business was sold to H Williamson around 1896, although he continued to manage the factory.

The acrylic lens is in nice condition.

The enamel dial has some very faint hairline cracks between 7 & 8 o'clock but otherwise it is in nice condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
