A Fabulous French Gold & Silver Vesta/cheroot Cutter

A most unusual mid 19th Century vesta and cheroot cutter combo. This appealing French example has an engine turned body, with a lower compartment for matches. The upper compartment contains the striker and blade for cutting the cheroot tip. To the front is an elaborate engraved monogram and the edging trim and hinge are gold. An interesting early example and a good collector's piece. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Very good, with no serious dents or splits. There are a couple of blemishes to the body, commensurate with age and use.
Hallmarks :- Unmarked but tests as silver.
Origin :- French.
