Here we offer a very powerful, poignant and striking folio of famous Army Commanders, published in 1900. The plates are printed to quality papers and the portraits most wonderfully rendered with intense and finely layered colours, wonderful precise detailing and textures.
Major-General Sir John Charles Ardagh KCMG KCIE CB (9 August 1840 – 30 September 1907), was an Anglo-Irish officer of the British Army, who served as a military engineer, surveyor, intelligence officer, and colonial administrator.
The lithograph is mounted in a luxury handmade and hand-finished frame, with a fine gold fillet added as a sophisticated contrast for the plate. The frame is renaissance gold (with a thick foil incorporating real gold), with good light this piece just glows, with a wonderful, deep and warm gold tone. The glass is museum quality with low reflection, amazing colour transparency and high, protective, U.V. absorption. The archival acid-free materials and professional techniques used to protect and frame this work will ensure that it continues to be enjoyed for many decades to come.
We ship within the UK and Internationally. Shipping costs are quoted separately and are charged at cost.
